The solution to an equation is when you find the answer to the variable you plug it back in to the equation then both sides become equal. It is not the process.
A solution to an equation is the correct answer to the problem. In algebra the solution is the variable (x). If you put the solution in place of the variable in an equation both sides are the same.
Equation to a solution. A solution to an equation is when you solve for X and then "plug it in" to your equation. Then you solve it with X changed into the number. Which then gives you the answer.
